PORT HARCOURT: The Rivers State House of Assembly has vowed to probe the Chief Justice of the State, Hon. Justice Simeon Amadi, over his alleged age falsification.

The assembly, in its 135th plenary in Port Harcourt on Thursday, resolved to involve the Department of State Service, DSS, to quickly open an investigation into the age forgery allegation against the CJ.

This was the main subject of the house’s plenary following the presentation of some documents to the Speaker by the leader of the House, Hon. Major Jack.

The Deputy Speaker, Hon Dumle Maol, raised an allegation against Justice Amadi that his age in service was forged.

Maol said: “These documents before me simply say that the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi, falsified his age in service. Mr Speaker, that is a very serious allegation, and I do hope that this House takes legislative notice.”

The House resolved in a voice vote after deliberation on the petition brought before it.

The assembly, however, resolved to write a letter to the Director of the DSS to investigate the allegation and revert to it on the findings.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, noted that the matter was on the age falsification of the CJ.

He said: “The documents are only suggesting a case of age falsification by the honourable Chief Judge of the state, Simeon Amadi. What it means is that there has to be an investigation to that effect.”
