Former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has said he is ready to fight to the finish in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Wike stated that he does not shy away from fights and is prepared to face whatever challenges arise within the main opposition party.

He also criticised the governors elected under the PDP, accusing them of failing to invest their resources in strengthening the party.


Wike specifically aimed at the governor of Enugu State, accusing him of being unable to produce a governorship candidate for PDP in the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election.

The former Rivers State governor made these remarks while addressing select media houses in Abuja on Wednesday, where he spoke extensively about the crisis rocking the state as well as issues concerning the PDP.

“Let me tell you, I’m not leaving that party. I’m not leaving. You see, I don’t run away from fights. I don’t run away. I’m not going to leave this party.

“The governors have the money, but they are not spending it well. They are not spending money on the party. They are not.

“Look at the Enugu governor—he wants to be the leader of the South East. I agree with that. But as a leader, you must also make sacrifices.

“Today, in Anambra, nobody is contesting the governorship election under the PDP. Nobody is running for governor under our party.

“I’m a governor, and I look at Enugu State and Anambra. You [Enugu governor] cannot even produce a candidate to contest in Anambra,” he said.
