Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal immediately turned down an approach from Chelsea to sign their player, Ethan Nwaneri this summer.

Romano disclosed that Arsenal made the decision after Chelsea enquired about the possibility of signing the 18-year-old.

Arsenal are keen to extend Nwaneri’s contract, but the youngster wants assurances of regular playing time under manager Mikel Arteta in the new season.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said, “Chelsea during the discussion for Noni Madueke told Arsenal they were interested in Ethan Nwaneri and prepared to make a bid if Arsenal weren’t able to agree any contract with the player to avoid losing him for a free next summer to present a bid now.

“For Arsenal that was a no, Arsenal never had the intention to let Nwaneri go,” he stated.

Meanwhile, it was manager Mikel Arteta that gave Nwaneri his first-team promotion to the senior team.
