The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has called on Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.

The monarch made the appeal during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration held at the Oluwo praying ground in Iwo, Osun State, on Friday.

He likened the reforms of the Tinubu administration to the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim, which the Eid-el-Kabir celebration commemorates.

Oba Akanbi said the hardships currently faced by Nigerians were necessary sacrifices required to rebuild the nation after years of failure under previous administrations.

The monarch argued that unlike many past presidents who ignored harsh economic realities and drove the country toward stagnation, Tinubu had taken bold steps to confront Nigeria’s challenges.

According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, the monarch urged Nigerians to embrace and promote what he described as the “progressive train” in order to restore the country’s lost glory.

“Patriotic Nigerians have a duty to promote the truth by supporting President Bola Tinubu’s second term in office. That support is crucial to restoring Nigeria through bold and aggressive reforms,” he said.

Oba Akanbi described Tinubu as “a president of many firsts,” noting that the administration had taken on forces working against the country’s development.

“Some of the critics who doubted him before his emergence are now embracing his reforms. In the end, we will all laugh,” he added.

The monarch also praised the removal of fuel subsidy, calling it a courageous decision that was necessary to rescue the nation.

He said the President had prioritised national honour over distractions, warning that anyone attempting to obstruct the country’s progress would be left behind by what he called “Tinubu’s moving train.”

“I urge Nigerians to see beyond the immediate and give unwavering support to President Tinubu,” he said. “The reforms are beginning to yield results. Workers’ wages are improving. Food prices are beginning to drop. We are getting closer. Let’s all be agents of truth, progress, and national growth.”
