The Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State has lambasted Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for scrapping the Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency, a World Bank-assisted programme facilitated by former governor, Bukola Saraki.

The PDP frowed on AbdulRazaq’s decision, removing KWASCDA, a programme designed to address critical infrastructural deficits in rural communities, from the upcoming World Bank-assisted intervention programme, NG-CARES.

In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara, the PDP expressed shock over the government’s removal of KWASCDA from the NG-CARES programme, which is being facilitated by the Federal Government and the World Bank.

The PDP pointed out that the removal occurred without any clear explanation or justification to the public, despite the programme’s success in other states.

The statement read: “While rural communities in other 35 Nigerian states will continue to benefit from this laudable project, Kwara State stands as an unfortunate outlier due to the governor’s self-serving political decisions.”

The PDP criticised the decision as a grave disservice to thousands of rural communities that have relied on KWASCDA for vital infrastructure such as boreholes, classrooms, electricity transformers, and sanitation projects.

These projects directly contribute to improving the quality of life for many Kwarans.

The party recalled that KWASCDA was established in 2009 under the leadership of Dr. Bukola Saraki’s administration and was sustained by his successor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.
